Masala Ghee Rice


Basmathi rice: 3 rice cooker cups (Soaked for 15-20 minutes and drained)

4-5 tbsp Ghee

3″ Cinnamon Stick

2 Bay leaves

4 Cardamom

4 Cloves

1 Star Anise

2-3 Green Chillies slit lengthwise

1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste

1 large Onion cut lengthwise

2 tsp Garam Masala powder

Salt to taste

Mint leaves

  • Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add onions, chillis and saute them until onions turn golden brown.
  • Add ginger garlic paste, mint leaves and saute for a minute. Add cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamon, bay leaves, star anise and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add basmati rice, garam masala powder, salt and mix them. Do not over mix to avoid rice from breaking.
  • Add 4 1/2 cups water and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Serve hot with any curry of your chioce.
